Can any area be used as a caravan park or camping area?

Development approval is required from Council for the use of any privately owned property as a caravan park or camping ground.

Once development approval is obtained  the owner/operator is to apply annually for approval to operate the camping ground or caravan park. The application forms are available from Council's Administration Centre.

Council permits camping for a maximum period of 30 days in the following reserves:

  • Copeland Reserve

  • Gloryvale Reserve

  • Bretti Reserve

Camping in all other road side reserves (including Barrington Reserve) is prohibited. Campers are reminded that significant penalties apply for non-compliance with the erected signage.
