Dont Be A Tosser

Litter is one of the most visible and persistent environmental issues in the community.

Litter disfigures streets, parks and public spaces and affects the image and condition of the local environment.

In an attempt to reduce the inappropriate disposal of litter in the Gloucester Shire Area, Council officers regularly patrol the Shire and can issue on-the-spot fines to people caught disposing of litter in an inappropriate manner.

Under current environment protection legislation, the following fines apply for disposing of litter in an inappropriate manner:

  • $60.00 for littering with small items such as bottle tops and cigarette butts

  • $200.00 for general littering such as lit cigarettes and litter from vehicles

Residents are requested to please be conscious of the manner in which they dispose of litter in order to avoid any unpleaseant penalty and to preserve the amenity of the environment.

For further information on littering visit the Dont Be A Tosser website.
