Economic Development

Gloucester Shire Council has, as one of its many functions, an Economic Development section, whose primary role it is to foster sustainable economic activity within the shire. The section has one full time employee whose role covers a wide range of activity but primarily involves:

  • The implementation of the Gloucester Economic Development Strategic Plan directions.

  • Secretariat to the Gloucester Economic Development Committee.

  • Management of Council industrial, residential and commercal land sales.

  • The marketing of Gloucester as a place for relocation of businesses and families

The Economic Development Officer also plays an advisory/liaison role for community groups in their dealings with government departments or peak industry bodies. If, for example, a community group is seeking funding from a government department or looking for support for a current or proposed project, the Development Officer is in a position to provide assistance or advice. If a business is looking to expand or relocate to the Gloucester district, a support role exists for the Development Officer to provide advisory assistance and or support. The role also offers a one stop shop for community/ business profile data and government grants based information. The Development Officer can be contacted at Council. Ph: 02 6538 5250
