Customer Service - Reception and Cashier

POSITION

To provide secretarial, administrative and cashiering functions within the Corporate Services Department which covers functions such as finance, administration, customer services and community services. Duties include word processing, telephone answering, customer service, reception, cashiering and general office duties.

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful applicant will have completed the Higher School Certificate or equivalent with passes in Mathematics and English.  Applicants will have gained TAFE secretarial qualifications or have completed 3 years service in a secretarial or similar position.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

o        ability to effectively communicate with  the public and staff;

o        demonstrated ability in the use of Microsoft Office including word processing with a high level of speed (at least 60 wpm) and accuracy;

o        ability to multi task and prioritise effectively;

o        the ability to think through and solve simple problems;

o        work co-operatively in a large office team environment;

o        a willingness to undertake formal short courses and approved study to attain relevant administrative certificates.

o        Class C (standard) drivers licence.

Council will provide all necessary in-house training to ensure the applicant is appropriately skilled to undertake the duties of the position.

CAREER PATHWAY

The successful applicant will be encouraged to pursue formal secretarial studies ranging to Certificate IV.  Some training will be provided by Council.  

SALARY

The salary will be $681.50 to $716.10 per week under the Local Government (State) Award and Council’s salary system.

INTERVIEWS  &  COMMENCEMENT of  DUTIES

Council anticipates holding interviews in the week commencing 29 June 2009 and the successful applicant will be expected to commence duties with Council by mid July 2009.
