Flooding

Although fortunate to have an extensive network of rivers
and streams, heavy rainfall resulting from severe
thunderstorms or other tropical weather events, can cause
severe flooding in the Gloucester area.
When a large amount of rain falls over a short period of
time; gullies, creeks and rivers can become filled and
overflow into surrounding areas.
At times of very heavy rainfall, water levels can rise several
metres in a matter of hours causing roads to become impassable.
The road behind can become blocked as quickly as the road
ahead and ‘turning-back’ may no longer be an option.
Caution when crossing a flooded road !!!
Snow
Adjust your speed to the weather. Slow down when conditions deteriorate and proceed with caution, particularly in fog, snow or ice conditions.
When the weather gets bad turn on your vehicle's fog or head lights. Other drivers will find your vehicle easier to see.
Never overtake on a hill, at a bend or at intersections.
Braking distances in snow and ice are increased compared to dry conditions. Keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front.
Braking should be gentle and early. When you accelerate, make sure you do it slowly.
