Registration & Microchipping

The Companion Animals Act and Lifetime Registration.
If you are the owner of a dog (working dogs exempt) or a cat born after
June 1999 then you must have your animal microchipped and registered.
This is a two step process with microchipping carried out by your local
veterinarian and then registration at the nearest Council Office. Once
your animal is registered, if lost, it can be identified anywhere in NSW
through the Companion Animals Register.
Registration fees are a one off fee and as at 1 July 2007 were:
- Desexed cat or dog $40
- Non-desexed cat or dog $150
- Breeder $40
- Desexed animal owned by an eligible pensioner $15
